Routine eye screening is often overlooked in people’s lives, but their importance cannot be overstated!
Eye screening at Lumin Eye Specialists aims to identify risk factors to disease; diagnose eye conditions and commence early or preventative treatment to ensure good outcomes. The American Association of Ophthalmology (AAO) recommends a complete eye examination screening for adults once in their 20s, twice in their 30s and yearly screening from age 40 onwards.
Children as young as 4 years can have their vision accurately checked. We aim to detect childhood eye conditions early for good outcomes ( especially Myopia in Singapore due to how common the condition is and the availability of good treatment. Amblyopia (lazy eye) can have an excellent outcome when detected and treated at an early age).
Adults should have their eyes screened more frequently and comprehensively if: there is a family history of eye disease (e.g., glaucoma), have risk factors for certain eye conditions (e.g., diabetes, high blood pressure,), or have had any eye injury before (glaucoma, cataracts, retinal detachment).
During an eye screening, our ophthalmologists use a range of examination techniques and investigations to ensure that each part of the eye is functioning well.
Depending on the ophthalmologist’s assessment of your eye, the recommended tests may vary.
Upon receiving the results, you can seamlessly continue your patient care journey at our eye clinic, which treats a full range of eye conditions under one roof.
